The challenge
At a wastewater treatment plant, three powerful submersible lift pumps (180 kW) ran at variable, often suboptimal flow rates. These constant variations kept them away from their zone of best hydraulic efficiency, forcing the equipment to consume more electricity than necessary to do its job.
The approach
Thanks to the RED solution, the pumps' actual operation was mapped in real time and cross-referenced with the theoretical performance curves. This method made it possible to identify the ideal efficiency zone and redefine the operating ranges through a simple adjustment of the variable frequency drives.
The result
The optimization delivered an average hydraulic efficiency gain of 26.5%, reducing consumption by 254.5 MWh per year. The customer benefit? Nearly €42,000 in annual savings generated with no hardware investment (zero CAPEX) !
